Arnt Arntzen: 20 Years Strong
Artisan Furniture Designer
I have always had a hard time looking at furniture as furniture. To me furniture is mixed media sculpture that demands to be touched, sat on, dined upon and slept on. The challenge is to design (continued below)
and build objects that will withstand the test of time structurally as well as visually. Most antique furniture you see today was contemporary at the time it was built, but the design and construction was so good, that they became classics. You could say the same about classical music. This is what I endeavor to do with my designs.

Saving Artist Studio Space: 901 Main St.
Valerie Arntzen has been working diligently at raising awareness of the Arts Community in East Vancouver for more than a decade. With recent real estate boons, developers purchasing old properties in eastvan have become threats to existing Artist Studios in old buildings that hold more revenue potential when leveled, and condos put in their place.

City of Vancouver Abandons Artists!
A city evolves, never remaining the same, as the old is brought down and the new is built up. This is true in business, in social-norms, in science, transportation, and land development. One significant evolving event, The Eastside Culture Crawl, is one event that has evolved and grown significantly over the years, Starting with only a handful of locations and artists, it has grown by leaps and bounds as Artists eagerly occupied run-down places that offfered the space and environment for their craft. As the city has evolved, the Culture Crawl has too, and so has the East Vancouver communities. With the Woodwards redevelopment project, and the public outcries, social housing has been adjusted into the plans. As further evolution affects the city-scape, it would be hoped that the City of Vancouver introduces measures that retain the treasures created by the dedication and locality of so many artists in East Vancouver.

Images are powerful, and speak volumes in an instant. Words shape the world sharing past, present, and future. Video entertains and informs. Art inspires the creator living inside each of us. And it is community that brings stimuli to the creative process, and allows us to share our ideas, emotions, views, passions, and more.
